Jim Holliday

Jim Holliday found his way into the adult video industry almost by accident. Due to the lack of accurate adult information available to consumers, he was one of the pioneers of the second wave, reviewing for mail-order companies in the ‘70s and compiling the first ever Adam Film World Special Directory in 1980.

As a writer, he wrote several industry related books including: How To Build Your X-Rated Video Library in 1980, The Top 100 X-Rated Films Of All Time in 1982, and Only The Best in 1986.

During his career in the adult industry, Holliday was a consultant for various adult video companies, a film reviewer, a columnist for several publications, a director, and the adult industry’s historian.

As the self appointed historian for the industry [Holliday knew it all concerning the industry and he was always happy to tell you he knew it all.], Holliday was like Rain Man when it came to questions concerning stars, films, scenes, and directors of thousands of adult titles.

Holliday, along with William Margold, founded the X-Rated Critic’s Organization (XRCO) in 1984. This once proud organization is now a shell of what it used to be, but in it’s time it was what the AVN awards are now.

As a director, Holliday was involved with some heterosexual features, but he garnered a reputation for shooting highly successful all-girl features. Some of his better works included: Return of the Cheerleader Nurses, Porn Star: The Legend of Ron Jeremy, Sorority Sex Kittens 2-5, and Cheerleader Strippers. Holliday also narrated and produced several “Best of” titles for Cal Vista highlighting the early stars of adult entertainment. They included: True Legends of Adult Cinema: The Golden Age, and Legends of Porn 1 & 2.

Jim Holliday died December 15, 2004 due to complications from diabetes.
