2006 will mark the twentieth year in which Gene Ross has been a writer in the adult industry. Over the years Gene has worn many hats. Be it a reporter, director, columnist, movie reviewer or magazine editor, he has proven the distinction of being Porn Legend.

The dean of adult industry writers, Gene had a well established background in mainstream journalism prior to entering the industry. At one time Gene worked as a newspaper reporter and had stints at several public relations firms out of New York and Philadelphia.

Gene began his adult career as a freelance writer for Adult Video News [AVN] writing reviews. A year later, Gene was named editor of AVN, a position he held for fourteen years. During his time at AVN Gene was a one man band. He wrote reviews, did interviews, and wrote his very popular industry gossip column. He also brought to AVN many new ideas that helped turn AVN into the leading industry trade publication.

After fighting an internal power struggle for some time at AVN, Gene left the publication in 2000 and soon was working for adult video company Extreme Associates [EA]. While there, Gene continued writing stories concerning the industry that provided written content for EA's Internet website. Gene also tried is hand at directing while at EA. His efforts produced two series: Cunt Hunt [Vol. 1,2,3] and Great American Ass [Vol. 1,2,3].

Gene departed Extreme Associates in 2002 and started his own website called Adult FYI. With his own site, Gene continues to provide his readers with concise information about the adult industry and the news that effects it on a daily basis.

Gene has garnered many friends and a ton of enemys over his career. But like any good writer, we suspect Gene doesn't care what side a person may stand on. He just continues to do his job, and for twenty years Gene has been the best in the business at what he does.
