Bill Margold
Depending on whom you talk to in the adult entertainment industry, people either love him or hate him. Either way they think, William Margold deserves the thanks of the fans, and the respect of everyone who earns a paycheck in the industry.
Called the "Renaissance Man of Porn," William Margold has been actively involved in the industry since 1969. At one time of another he has participated in virtually every capacity ranging from writer to performer, from agent to director, and from critic to industry spokesman.
As a writer and performer, Margold has been involved in well over 300 X-rated films and videos. He has appeared in such productions a MARILYN AND THE SENATOR (1974), WEEKEND FANTASY (1980), LUST INFERNO (1982), THE IMMORTALS (1989), and the SLEAZE PLEASE series (1994). He also wrote and hosted the best compilation tape dedicated to the late John Curtis Holmes titled ANGEL IN MR. HOLMES (1988 Western Visuals).
As an agent, his is truly in a class by himself. He discovered such legendary superstars as Kelly Nichols, Serena, the nasty Lee Caroll, Tiffany Clark, Bunny Bleu, Rene Summers, Seka, and the notorious Viper. His latest discovery is a blonde bombshell that is intriguingly named Cannibal.

He also was the creator of several movie ratings systems used by many magazines today. He was also the co-founder of the X-rated Critics Organization (XRCO) in 1984.
As a spokesman for the industry, Margold strives mightily against the censorial enemies of "X" by barraging them with incredibly effective sound bites including his most famous which was delivered before the Meese Commission in 1985: "In a society that is drug infested, violence wracked, and polluted by chemical greed, no one had ever died from an overdose of pornography."
He, along with legendary adult film star Viper where founders of the grass roots anti-censorship group: Fans Of X-rated Entertainment (FOXE). He is also on the board of directors of the Free Speech Organization (the industry's trade organization).

This program helps people in the industry work out problems they may be having in their personal and professional lives by providing peer counseling and a 24 hour 800 help line, along with other support services.
William Margold is a rarity in the industry because he truly cares about the people in it. When he takes a person under his wing, that person immediately becomes one of his "kids," and Margold will do whatever it takes to help that individual any way he can. Being the kind of guy he is, his "kids" affectionately refer to him as "Papa Bear."
Margold's outstanding contributions to the industry over the past 30 years were finally recognized in January of 1998 when he was inducted into the Legends of Erotica Hall of Fame. Margold was the second male to be inducted into this prestigious hall of fame, the first being John Curtis Holmes, thee most popular adult film star of all time. January of 2002 Margold was again honored by being immortalized in the Hustler Stores' Walk of Fame in Los Angeles.
The following phrase best sums up Margold: "God Created Man, William Margold Created Himself."
